Hi - I thought I would finally register and say hello to everyone. I found this site when I was waiting to start the pump and was doing my research on it, I found the site so helpful in so many ways, just knowing that you aren't the only one experiencing the ups and downs of diabetes is nice, although wouldn't it be even nicer if there weren't any downs to diabetes but such is life, makes you stronger 🙂

Hi Redkite! Thanks 🙂 I'm on the Accu Chek Combo and life is so much easier now, I would never give it back! Although I'm in Spain at the minute and trying to work out whether my basal or ratio needs reduced with the heat so back to testing lol! I'm sure you experience the same, it's ever changing!

It's good to hear your pump is helping you out so much, I've found my blood sugar is a lot more stable since using a pump but still plenty of ups and downs to keep me busy. It's definitely ever changing :D
 
Hi Flower! Yes, things are definitely more stable on a pump! I've always looked after myself really well but then pre-pregnancy targets threw me and for the first time in 12 years I really started to struggle, I guess I'm lucky to be able to say that, but the pump has meant I'm now able to meet the targets (most of the time) so am a lot happier. I'm a serious control freak when it comes to my diabetes so I really panicked but we keep going don't we, nothing else for it 🙂

That's great news TinTin! Sometimes all it takes is to talk to other people with diabetes and hear their tips on how to deal with things. I don't really know anyone else with it so the forum was definitely helpful in realising that the problems one person runs into have been experienced by everyone because sometimes you feel that it's your fault and most of the time it isn't, it's just diabetes!

Newbie as well

I have been reading all of your posts and I must say you all seem to be so supportive of each other and it is great to see!

I was just told last week of now being diabetic. I am nervous and I must admit a bit scared. I am on Metformine at this moment. And my doctor told me not to get a testing kit yet. I think this is a bit strange but I am trying to follow the good doctors orders.

I look forward to getting to know many of you!
