Hey everyone!
I’m Verity, newly diagnosed with pre-diabetes and just waiting to start on the Healthier You programme in Cheltenham. It looks like for me pre-diabetes has been triggered by chronic stress so I’ve a lot to work through...
Honestly, I’m a bit daunted by it all - it’s a massive change to cope with when my mind is still not okay; and I’m looking for tools, tips and guides, recipes and also to understand what’s happening physiologically in my body to help gain some control.
ANYWAY, Not sure what else to say so… any advice welcomed!!
BYE!!

Welcome to the forum
Prediabetes is a wake up call to make a few lifestyle changes, they don't need to be massive but once you do it will hopefully make you feel better overall as higher blood glucose than you really want affect your whole body including the brain.
Stress is certainly a factor in increasing blood glucose.
I found this link really helpful in giving me the tools to make some dietary changes which I found easy to adopt as it still gave me options for tasty filling meals. https://lowcarbfreshwell.com/
It is a low carb approach with ideas for modifying your diet with meal plans to suit various tastes and budgets.

Welcome to the forum @Veebear

Hope you can find some practical ways to reduce and manage your stress. Are there things in your life that you know act as triggers for your stress levels? And are these things that you can make changes to reduce? Or is it more a question of managing the stress during those times?

Hopefully as you will be able to make some modest changes to your menu to reduce your risk of diabetes too. Eating more healthily, and in a more nutritionally-rich way, with more fresh produce, and a balance of nutrients that your body can cope with can be a surprisingly significant factor in improving your mental health and also your physical wellbeing.

There’s a reason why athletes have whole teams of people working on their food intake - because improving their diet offers real improvements to their performance both physically and mentally 🙂

Thanks! I’m making some changes to help with my stress level, including leaving a difficult job situation I’ve been in which should help.
Also starting to make some food changes too so hope to hit the ground running when I start Healthier You end of Jan!
Appreciate the message 🙂
