Just a note to say Hello to you all. I am a semi-retired airline pilot. I am now enjoying a much less stressful life as a teacher at the local Uni 2 days a week. I was diagnosed Type II around 5 years ago. For 4 years I managed my BG with a changed diet and more exercise. Around a year ago I was advised to take Metformin (500g 2x a day) and have had my BG under good control ever since.
I drink one large (660ml) bottle of beer a day and have a large glass of red around 10.30 pm every night. I sleep well!
My weight when diagnosed was 90kg, currently 80kg and stable.
I swim 1km a day and eat a low carb diet. I now have almost no added sugars in my diet and have at last weaned myself of sweeteners in my tea!
I guess I'm a 🙂

Welcome Rubik.

Just join in with any threads or start another yourself. I guess you have opportunity to eat / resist lots of fruit and other foods that would be counted exotic in UK?

Welcome to the forums rubik101 🙂

Dear rubik101,

Welcome to this forum, it looks like you have it all sorted - well done. I also adopt a controlled carb approach, are the medical authorities in Thailand different or do they spout the "eat starchy foods as part of every meal" nonsense like Diabetes UK advise on their website? 😱

Regards Dodger
