I have been reading the forum since the start of the year and have found it to be helpful, and I will probaly need your help and advise at some point in the future, so I thought I would introduce myself. I was diagnosed as type 2 at Christmas last year, to be treated by diet. I have never used forums/message boards before so please be gentle with me. Looking forward to talking to you in the future.

Welcome to the club nobody wanted to join! 🙂 As you have probably already noticed, we're a friendly and helpful lot; no question is considered silly, so feel free to pitch in.

(You will get more replies later as everyone else wakes up.)

Welcome to the forum Polar Bear 🙂

Thank you all for a lovely welcome.
Since being diagnosed I have lost 2 stone in weight (i still have to lose more). All the information that I have received is all now starting to sink in and I am just starting to understand all the possible problems that can occur. Just feeling a bit low this week. Get my first HBAI1 result next week.

It's understandable, it's a life-changing thing. But I am sure that, as you learn more and find how to keep your levels under control, you will feel less overwhelmed by things. Have you taken a look at our 'Useful Links' thread? I would particularly recommend reading Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter and getting the book Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker - many of our members find these the clearest sources of information about how to tackle the problems presented. And do ask if there is anything we can help with, or you just want to have a good old moan about things!

Terrific weight loss, that will really help improve your insulin sensitivity 🙂 Good luck with the HbA1c, let us know how things go!
