Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
I am living now in Cyprus, formerly UK. I have had diabetes type 2 for some years now and have regular 3 monthly checks to monitor the condition. I have found a way forward to lower my weight, blood sugar and blood pressure count that doesn't involve calorie counting. In fact, you can eat as much as you like from specific food groups. It is called the fast metabolism diet and the point of it is to reset your body and metabolism so it can cope with weight gain easily. I have learnt that weight control, is the key to coping with diabetes. I have followed this diet for 4 months and have dropped from 75 kilos to 55kilos (8 stone 8 ounces) which is a healthy weight for me. My blood sugar has dropped to 4.85 from 7.80 and my blood pressure from 160/80 to 130/75. I don't suppose the diabetes has entirely gone away and I will need to monitor it. What I am saying is, don't despair! There is a way forward!

Great work!

There are enough underweight T2's to make it clear that weight loss isn't always the answer ... but I'm pretty convinced that it usually is.

I went to Cyprus 3 times in one year a few years ago. Also worked there. Electrical work & also Olive picking in the heat. Lovely place 🙂. Welcome

Was olive picking & the main man said "put your hand out" He put a baby frog type thing in my hand. When it started to change colour, I started to worry. Baby Camillion !

Thanks for your comment. Of course, there are many factors that can lead to diabetes and I am aware that weight is only one of them. My main reason for starting the diet was to bring my blood pressure and blood sugar down to normal levels, which it is now.The diet has boosted my metabolic rate and I hope this will continue. It is also worth targeting the right body areas to lose eight, especially from the abdomen, where i have lost 3 inches of abdominal fat, that helps. I also have asthma, one of the reasons I became fat in the first place. I had to take steroids in order to breathe which made me gain weight. Thanks to the cleaner air in Cyprus (if sometimes dusty) I don't need to take harmful steroids anymore.
