Thought I'd introduce myself. My son (almost 11) was diagnosed on 4 Feb 08 - funny how you never forget the date! When he was first diagnosed he was on 3 injections a day - and I fed so many carbs that he ate more than his dad 😱 Wish I had found this site then lol.

Last December we started MDI and carb counting and 2 weeks ago he started pumping using the medtronic veo and it's going (suprisingly) well. Have to say that he is more confident at using the pump than me 🙂
 
Hi there rolo love the username by the way lol, welcome to the forum, have a good browse around the paretns section if you have not already, the parents on here have been through it all the good and the bad, and there such wonderful people with great kids, some of there kids are on pumps as well so you should have plenty to chat about.Welcome onboard x
 
Welcome my_last_rolo. Is the name anything to do with a French and Saunders sketch, where one said something about not giving their last Rolo to someone in a diabetic coma? Can't remember exactly and I'm sure it didn't makje sense clinically (sugary sweet would only be useful in hypoglycaemia, not hyperglycaemia, and nothing oral is any use in coma), but it was comedy, so shouldn't expect an accurate first aid instrution!
 
Welcome to the site.................so glad the wee man is pumping......must be a big change for you all, a good change..........

You will find lots of friendly, helpful faces in the pumping/parents section who can supply you with unlimited knowledge and advice on looking after little pumpers..........:D

Do you mean your son is 11 now or was at dx? My daughter is/was both (lol) but good to 'meet' someone in similar circs. can I ask what decided you to start with pump? we dont think its for us but its early days yet

well hi my -last-rolo Iam new to this site aswell. I have been a diabetic for 55 years and have had mere help from this site the past 2day then enayone before hope to help you if i can.🙂
