Hi everybody, newbie here, pre type 2 diabetes warning from my Dr.
So Monday morning I shall be drinking 2 litres of water, going for a morning walk and drawing up a healthy eating plan...

Hi Belle18, welcome to the forum.

It's great to see that you're being proactive following your warning. Sounds like you've got a great plan so it's more than possible for you to stay out of the diabetic range.

If there's anything we can do to help or any questions you have, do let us know!

Something many people find really helpful is making a food diary of everything you eat and drink with an estimate of the TOTAL carbohydrates, info can be found on packets, internet search or shop websites, look for the total carb in the nutritional information.
It will help you see where some savings on portion size of high carb foods can be made so you reduce your intake by say a third and see how you get on with that. You may prefer to cut some things out which don't have too much value in terms of enjoyment so you can still have some of the other things you prefer.
The book or app Carbs and Cals is a really useful guide with a pictorial and carb info on various portion sizes of a whole range of foods, I did find and still do find it my bible. You will have some surprises I'm sure and you will realise just how much carbs are in café portions of things like jacket potatoes or chips with everything.
Foods which are regarded as healthy are not necessarily so for Type 2 diabetics or 'at risk' folk.

Welcome from me too 🙂

Hi @Belle18 and welcome! 🙂 firstly sounds brilliant what you plan to do. Eating healthier, staying hydrated and exercising we strongly encourage. You can find some advice about being at risk of Diabetes and reducing it through nutrition here https://www.diabetes.org.uk/preventing-type-2-diabetes/prediabetes 🙂
