Hello everyone.
I was diagnosed type 2 in late August after a routine blood test at my GP. It came as no surprise as I had been experiencing a few symptoms for a while but had chosen to ignore them.
My HbA1c came back at 97 so was immediately put on 2000 mg Metformin daily Dapagliflozin 10 mg and Atorvastatin 20 mg.
For a little background I’m 54 and own a forth generation family bakery so you can imagine my whole life i have eaten pies and pastries on a daily basis. I would eat bread with every meal and could easily eat a large white loaf every day. During the pandemic we were classified as essential workers so found ourselves working 12-14 hr days and in no time my weight had ballooned to 18 stone.
Fast forward to today. I’ve been following a low carb diet as recommended by you guys. I’ve stoped eatin pasta potatoes pastries cakes and limit myself to one slice of whole meal bread a day. I set myself goals and allow myself 1 treat per month, usually a small fish with a few chips.
on Monday I had my first follow up blood review and this morning I received the results….. HbA1c of 37 and I’ve lost 3 1/2 stone. I haven’t felt this good in years.

I would like to thank you all for the advice I have received from reading other people’s posts and hope this can inspire others to do the same. It really works.

WOW! Many congratulations on a fantastic result and great weight loss and I take my hat off to you for having achieved that whilst working in such a tempting environment. It can't have been easy! I am sure it will inspire others to read of your success and best of luck maintaining that fantastic progress. So good that you also feel much better in yourself too as that really helps with the motivation. WELL DONE!!

Oh and welcome!..... Although it sounds like you have been here lurking in the background for a little while!

Thank you. My mum was diagnosed type 2 at a similar age and managed to control it through diet for nearly 35 years. Here’s hoping I can do the same.

Blimey thats a stunning result 😱
