Hello everyone! I've been reading the forums for a few weeks now, so thought it was time to take the plunge and say hi.
A brief (ish) introduction from me. I'm 28 and was diagnosed with type 1 just before Christmas.
I'd had the symptoms for a few months before then, but a combination of factors meant that it took me until December to go to a GP and get some blood tests done. I went into hospital the week before Christmas with a HBA1C of 116 and spent a couple of days there on an insulin drip, before being released into the wild with a glucose metre and some insulin pens.
In the last couple of months I've been trying to get used to this new embuggerance as part of my daily life. It's been an odd combination of a pain in the arse, and something that's just become normal. It's also been weirdly positive in that it's made me more aware of what I'm eating and has helped me cut out the sugary snacks (which were particularly tempting in the office).
Still a lot to learn, but it's been good to see how much support there is out there - including on this forum!
