I was reading a story on the Diabetes Facebook page which prompted me to join the forum for the first time. Nieve's story was so similar to mine. I was diagnosed with T1 in September 2018 aged 55. My base insulin is currently 32u and l regularly have 23u with my meals. I eat what I consider pretty healthy meals, exercising during lockdown has been an issue but l have been walking. My sugar levels are stuck in the mid teens. I've gained 3st in 3 years. I am feeling really quite down about this weight gain as I was quite slim before. I will be very grateful for any information I can learn here to control my diabetes. Thank you, David

Hello @David Griffith ,

Thank you so much for joining the forum and I am so glad to hear Nieve's story resonated with you. There is a ton of information and advice on the forum and if you would like to start exercising again we have a programme we are offering to help others start to move more.

@Francesca DUK could help you on this journey if you would like to participate.

Welcome to the forum @David Griffith

Sorry to hear that you have been seeing weight gain and that your BGs are running high.

Are you carb counting your meals? I wonder if the weight gain may have altered your insulin sensitivity, and you may now need to eat fewer carbs in order to balance your doses. Carb counting would also help you to reduce your food intake, which should make weight loss or weight maintenance easier.
