Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Have had type 2 for about 5 years now tried every oral med going with little change was referred to local diabetic clinic as the doctors at my local practice ran out of ideas.
I was started on insulin in April of 2019 it took a few months of fine-tuning to get a level balance of an insulin dose. I did get regular check-ups with the diabetes clinic I had been referred to. After a few months of what I found was a very haphazard way the clinic was run I asked to be referred back to my local clinic at my medical centre. I would not say that I am having to inject insulin every day but it is the only option available. Diabetes seems to run in my family. have a daughter with it and also a brother. Have a niece who as been type1 for over 40 years She as been through the mill with it, lost her sight at 19 and as also had 2 kidney transplants, and is now awaiting another.

Hello Mike, and welcome to the forum.
I can see from this message and your posting on the General forum that you are having a very difficult time with your diabetes.
Are you able to tell us a little more about yourself? Do you know what your Hb1Ac reading is? Are you trying any particular dieting approach, and have you been given any advice on this?
Many people on the forum find that they have extra sensitivity to eating carbohydrates, and that cutting down on these helps, but you need to find out what works for you. We can send you some links and information if this is something that might help.

hi @mikem24 - welcome, nice to have you here. You do seem to be a bit at the end of your tether at the moment, but do not despair, there will be many many people on here with all kinds of helpful tips and advice for you, which im sure you will find useful. Some will have been very much in the position you are, its a long old road, but they will help you, im positive of that. I know its a worrying time for you, but we are here for you. Do you have an exercise regime? could you let us know how you deal with your diabetes day to day, do you test (and how often?) Have you worked out which foods give you that unwelcome spike in your BG levels and how you deal with it? With that kind of info and what @Toucan says above knowing what your history of HB1Ac levels are may help other tailor an appropriate response to your thread. Its a lot of question to throw at you all at once but take you time in responding, I dont want to pressurise you in any way.

Hi and welcome. When you say you dont inject insulin every day, what do you mean? It would be helpful to know a little more about how you manage day to day if you are willing to share?

Welcome to the forum Mike, from a fellow T2.
