Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Diagnosed December 2015 after a bout of acute pancreatitis which landed me in hospital. Then another bout which put the tin lid on it as my pancreas was badly damaged.
This was due to alcoholism, I am now sober but due to the damage I have diabetes - it's not precisely type 2 but it's what they're calling it.
At the moment I am on gliclazide 40mg one a day and testing 3x a day, I'm really struggling to get my blood sugars down, as it is usually 13-17 a day and fasting test is 9.
I also need to lose some weight as my BMI is 27! I have a space on an NHS diet course in a few months as well. So I wil be haunting the weight loss boards.

Nice to meet you all and I have one question - do foodbanks accept boxes of biscuits? Either my entire family forgot I was diabetic this year or they're trying to kill me off :D

Hi Tabbycat
Warm welcome to the forum

Welcome, I am a newly diagnosed type 2, but I know what you mean with family, my hubby bought in the most enormous bag of M & M's the day after I said I would need his help and support.

Hi Tabbycat123 and welcome to the gang. We're a friendly bunch so ask away if you have any questions, and one or more of us will come along to try and assist🙂
