Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
What a great site this is. It was recommended to me by my new diabetic nurse yesterday when I went for my annual check. She was so informative, not experienced this from a diabetic nurse before - excellent!

I am a type 2, 64 years old and was diagnosed from a routine urine test for something else, around 15 years ago - my HbA1c was 9.5 (fasting). On the whole, my glucose control, helped by Metformin, has been great to satisfactory. However the last 2 checks have seen this creeping up 7.2 and 7.6 - I don't want it to go up any more and it needs to be reduced!

I feel positive that this new nurse's advice and this site will help me to achieve that. I realise that I have been complacent and have been having a 'normal' lifestyle but no more.

Great to 'meet' you all x

Hi JoanCal, welcome to the forum 🙂 What a wise nurse you have there, hold onto her! 🙂 We have people of all ages and all levels of experience with diabetes here, so it's unlikely any questions you ask won't be able to be answered by someone, so please let us know if we can help in any way 🙂 It's a good idea to think of this as a 'starting point', reviewing your diet and activity levels, and looking for areas where things can be improved or might have slipped a little over the years. Do you test your blood sugar levels? If not, this might help to identify elements in your diet that are responsible for your recent increase in HbA1c levels.

Welcome to the group, hope you will find it informative & supportive....
