Hi everyone, my name is Jay, I have joined today to hopefully have support, not for me, my heart goes out to you all and have read some of your remarkable stories.
I have joined because of my elderly father who has early onset dementure and also type 1 diabeties. He went into a coma last friday and i have been trying to get some information on the subject as now my Mum has passed away, my Dad has only got me and my Brother Mike. He lives on his own and is a very stubborn man, I am now called the nagging Matron as I have to keep reminding him now, that he has to eat regularly. We supply him with a main meal, but then it it down to him and if he can't be bothered to eat he won't. It is so hard, luckily my brother & I live in the same town, so only 5 minutes away from him.
I think that the scare of being admitted to hospital scared him, but he will soon forget, and we will be back to the start again.
So tonight I have be doing some research and so glad to have found a Support Group.
I look forward to meeting some of you on here, and also seeing the answers to some of my questions, which is something that I haven't had before.
Wheels turn don't they, Parents look after us when we are young, and then we get in our 50's and the roles reverse.
But we love him dearly, and I never want to see him like that again, so anybody out there, who should be having a little snack between meals and one before bed. Please do so, as his Hypo was so serious, that we nearly lost him.
I hope to chat to someone soon.
Bi Bi for now
