I need some advice please I have type 2 db which is controlled with a mix of tablets and insulin I test my sugars 6 times every day and have db neuropathy in my toes and now my fingers are becoming numb and wondered if there was any way I could get help with a alternative sugar testing which doesn't involve finger prickin

Welcome to the forum @Kenneth reilly

Many BG meters offer ‘alternative site testing’ which you might be able to look into - often it involves having a different fitting on the lancing device.

There are other forms of continuous glucose sensors, like Libre 2, which are electronic devices that provide sensor glucose readings, but these are not usually prescribed on the NHS, and especially not for T2s as there is less clinical data about their effectiveness in T2.

They can be self-funded, but it’s not cheap - something like £100 a month.

Hi @Kenneth reilly

Yes the finger pricking can be a pain in the finger.
like you I wondered about looking into the libre and another one I was advertised on the tv

I’ve found since switching to use a different lancing device it’s a lot less painfu.

And now I’m ok with just finger pricking for my regular testin.

I’ve got a ACU CHECK FAST CLIX
if you haven’t tried one yet I recommend it
cost about £12 and about £15 for loads of its lancet cartridges I got it on eBay

im now happily testing at least 6 times a day with my new device.
recently got a second FAST CLIX for my other testing kit (for the car) like you I’m also taking a bit of insulin, so need to test when out and about.

Hello and welcome. 🙂 I have terrible trouble getting any blood out. I want one of them Libre thingies, if I could work it I'd get one. 🙂 I'm not bothered about the money, it'd be worth it!
