Hi fellow members ,I have been diabetic for quite a few years but my diabetes changed and became uncontrollable & sugars were really high ,after a change in medication from Oral to Injection its gradually coming under better control
I am looking for advice and support with Diabetes ,tips & advice with food choices & getting to know & support others

Hi Sue and welcome.

I am so pleased that you have come to the forum because it is a gold mine of knowledge and experience and support and there are lots of great tips for practical management of diabetes from people who have been there and got the T-shirt. We also understand how isolating and frustrating diabetes can be and being able to compare notes with others in the same boat is massively beneficial in helping to cope with it.

What sort of injectable medication are you now using and how long have you been on it/them? Dietary advice needs to take into account the medication you are using because diet can be a very powerful tool in managing diabetes so making changes could cause you to drop too low (hypo) if you are on particular medications.
Also, can you tell us a bit more about your diabetes journey....? Things like How did your diagnosis come about? ie. Routine blood test or symptomatic and if so which symptoms? Your HbA1c at diagnosis if you know/remember it and your most recent one?
Do you home test your BG levels and what sort of results are you getting?

The more info you can give us the better we can tailor our advice to your particular circumstances.... So feel free to try to bore the pants off us 😉with as much detail as you can be bothered to type. We like details here.... :D

Welcome to the forum @Suem64 🙂

Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself. Glad to hear that your sugar levels are coming under control.

The forum is a great way to get to know and support others so you have definitely come to the right place!

You may find the thread on the forum called, 'Food/carb queries + recipes' helpful for some tips and advice on food choices

Hi @Suem64 and welcome, you will find lots of support and advice here. The food section has lots of recipes and suggestions, what is your current diet like x

Welcome to the forum @Suem64 🙂

Glad you’ve joined us! And glad you’ve found a new combination of meds that work for you. It can be tricky to keep the balance with your body’s ability to metabolise food and other things as and when your diabetes changes over time.
