Hello,
As requested I am introducing myself. I'm in my mid-fifties and was diagnosed a couple of months ago, after a bit of a todo with steroids. I'm still finding it a bit strange, but seem to be managing the sugar side of things - though there are always questions about food. The doctor phoned me in the evening after my tests at the hospital and it was quite a shock - it took me some time to even look at this site. I've been on the DESMOND course which was very good but a lot to take in. My GP was very pessimistic about me, and recently told me he expected me to be on insulin very quickly but has now revised that view. So that's me - except I have been married 30 years and have one daughter who is 14 today - which has made her very fed up because it's also the day her exams started.
