Relationship to Diabetes
Hi All,

I was recently diagnosed as Pre-Diabetic and and have been working to reduce this initially through diet and exercise.

Look forward to being a part of this forum.

Conor

Hi Conor, welcome to the forum 🙂 Even though you are pre-diabetic, it would be helpful for you to understand what diabetes is all about - I'd suggest reading Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter to give you a bit of background. Diabetes (and pre-diabetes!) is all about carbohydrates, as they are what will raise your blood glucose levels the most, and the fastest. Ideally, you want to find a balance where you are eating a good, flexible diet that you enjoy, but one that will release its energy slowly and steadily rather than giving you a rapid 'spike' in levels then falling back. It's worth looking at the GL Diet, as this is the principle it works on - The GL Diet for Dummies is a useful introduction. A diet that is good and healthy for people with diabetes is good and healthy for everyone.

If you have any worries or questions, please let us know and we will do our best to help! 🙂

Welcome to the forum Conor 🙂
