Hello to the Forum. My name is Tessapip and I am very glad to join the forum so that I can continue to learn about management of diabetes. I have been on insulin for six months and recently did an insulin management course at York Hospital, which I found very helpful. I have also attended two online meetings organized by Freestyle Libre. The last one was about how diabetics can eat healthily and with enjoyment. Endamame pasta was mentioned - please can anybody tell me where this can be purchased and the cost? Is it possible to purchase it in bulk?

@Tessapip welcome to the forum. I was diagnosed type 2 at the end of July and have only eaten pasta once. I have two unopened packets which I may eat as small servings. I don't eat pasta each week but like it. I know one member eats red lentil pasta and someone else the edamame pasta. My local health food shop doesn't stock it but Holland and Barrett has a good variety and Waitrose and Sainsbury's have some though I think Waitrose stocks pea. I don't know if Holland and Barrett do online but Amazon stocks a large range with offers for single or multiple purchases. Maybe Costco would do bulk.

Good luck and post which one you liked as I am still considering a purchase.

Welcome @Tessapip 🙂 Tesco do a Red Lentil Pasta that is very similar. It’s cheaper than, for example, this edamame pasta:

Those kind of pastas tend to have less carbs so check the information carefully and adjust your mealtime insulin appropriately. You could also just add beans, pulses and legumes to your everyday meals. Tinned beans/legumes are very cheap.

Welcome to the forum @Tessapip

Great to hear you’ve had access to an education course specifically around managing diabetes with insulin - many T2s over the years have been very frustrated at the lack of availability, so well done to your hospital for making it available.

Did you find it helpful?

I can’t help with the Edamame pasta I’m afraid, I just use the regular variety and balance it with insulin 🙂

I have recently had edamame bean and black bean noodles from Holland and Barrett and had fettucine before.
Amazon do also have the Explore make of both.
I've never seen it in Costco.

@Leadinglights I've only been in Costco once with a friend many years ago I assumed it might have the alternative pasta. I will eventually buy a packet but not bulk.
