Type 2
I am a 72-year-old type 2 diabetic with a lousy memory. I can never remember if I have taken my last insulin shot at the correct time. I've tried keeping a diary but forget to fill in the date and time. I am using Novorapid in a NovoNordisk 3 pen. I have heard there are pens that record how much and how long ago the last shot was but can't find one that is available in the UK. Does anybody know of a suitable pen? Thanks

Welcome to the forum, ipomoea.

Timesulin records time since last injection, but not the amount injected. Still, could be useful to you.

You need a Novopen Echo, it records the amount of your last injection and apprximately how many hours ago it was done 🙂 They are available on prescription - I've had one for about 3 years 🙂

Thanks for that, Northerner. I see my Doc on Monday so I'll run it past him.

He should be happy with the request - if you're still using a novopen 3 then I think you are due for a new pen! 🙂 The Echo has a lot of other features that make it so much better than the novopen 3: you can rewind the dose if you go too far, plus it is easier to change cartridges and you can wind it forwards when you are nearing the end of a cartridge to see exactly how much you have left (then you just rewind it!) 🙂

The only problem is that the battery isn't replaceable and runs down after a couple of years (haven't got round to getting a new one yet to replace mine)

LOL - I knew I'd heard that name when I saw it last night.

This morning - I remembered what it was.

Glorious !! 🙂
