Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Just joined this site at the suggestion of the diabetic nurse at my doctors. I had a score of 58 which is up from about 40 a couple of years ago. Big changes ahead, just been prescribed dapagliflozin, any advice or just thoughts welcome.

Hi @Eagle147 You say that your score (I assume this is an HbA1C test) is 58 up form 40 2yrs ago.
Well an HbA1C is considered to be in the normal range in the UK (though it's thought to be pre-diabetic in the USA).
So I'm wondering why diabetic medication has been prescribed. Many people can reverse Type 2 (it takes a transplant to reverse Type 1) by simply reducing the amount of carbohydrates we eat (starches like potatoes and grains as well as sugars).

I bought a Blood Glucose meter and tested different meals (starting with my usual breakfasts) in order to find which foods to avoid. Sure enough my breakfast of porridge and a banana was a terrible start to the day for me and I soon switched it to eggs (no bread). Then worked on fixing my other meals. I'm now in remission having never needed any diabetes medications.

Well as diabetes is diagnosed with an HbA1c of 48+ and yours is 58, that will be the reason for anti diabetes medication being prescribed. However - Forxiga is not normally the first choice, it is usually added after other medications have not kept the blood glucose where it needs to be.
