Was diagnosed at the end of April. Have other health problems as well which complicates things. Was a qualified nurse for other 30 years so have some knowledge of Diabetes. Slightly different when you are the patient!

Hello @Bedford 1 welcome to the forum.

Yes but not the end of the world, a bit more info if you choose to divulge it, HbA1c result and medication
you are on. Have you a glucose test meter hopefully you have? I reckon you know the score and a bit of
help from the forum will help you on your journey with diabetes (D), its not only D we talk about and someone
with your knowledge will be a true asset to the forum.

Welcome to the forum @Bedford 1

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, and your other health challenges.

How did your diagnosis come about? Do you have T2 in your family? Or did you notice the onset of symptoms because of your medical background?

Have you been started on any medication? Or are you managing with diet and exercise to begin with?

Likely to be 80mmol/mol and 86mmol/mol I think. HbA1c in % was the old way of expressing it and would have been 9.5% - 10%

Some of us oldies still think in imperial rather than metric :D

Hello. Diagnosis confirmed when gp did some routine blood tests showed high HbA1c. Do not know of any history of T2. Symptoms were there but have prostate cancer so they were being masked to a certain extent. Started on Metformin 500mg 1mane, now 1bd. In a wheelchair so exercise difficult.

Sorry to hear about the prostate cancer.

Of course illness and injury can play havoc with your BG levels in itself.

Hope the 'metfartin' treats you kindly, and you find a way to manage your diabetes alongside your other health needs.
