Hi everyone - I've just signed up and wanted to introduce myself.

I have a diabetic son (Jacob - 5) who was diagnosed when he was 2

We're handling things pretty well I think having had brilliant support from Jacob's nursery and now his primary school.

Unfortunately Jacob's mum has left home now so I'm looking after Jacob myself (with massive help from my mum and dad in law) as well as a 9 year old and a 16 year old step-daughter!

I signed up to try to talk to people with similar problems so I'll dive in and start a few threads.

First off I'm hoping to take the boys on holiday for the last two weeks of August - what I'd really like is someone to come with me and help out! There would be a free holiday in it for someone but I'm not sure if that sounds too mad! .....

Hello Grahama,
welcome to the forum. It sounds as if you have your hands full.
Holiday, no idea where you were thinking of going but have you checked out diabetes uk holidays? These are great for youngsters with diabetes and the rest of the family as well. All the help you need would be provided.

Hi Grahama, welcome to the forum 🙂 If you have a look in our Useful links thread you'll find links to some good resources. I would recommend joining the Children with Diabetes site too as there are hundreds of knowledgeable parents there who will be able to help answer any of your questions - you might even find a holiday 'buddy' 🙂

Hi and welcome. Have you thought about a PGL holiday. They provide activities for you and cook all your meals. I have been to Devon and France and had a great time with my son. You will do the activities with the same group so you will soon make friends.

Hi and welcome from me 🙂 Look forward to seeing you posting!
