Hi, I'm Rebecca, a newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic. All help you can give me will be appreciated.
Hi, and welcome. As a newbie would you be happy to share some information such as how you came to be diagnosed (you had symptoms or was it the result of a blood test for something else), what your HbA1c was (this will determine how much you need to do to manage your T2), any diabetes meds, given any advice about diet (my money's on your answer being 'no') or told to exercise more or to lose weight? Apologies if that all sounds a bit intrusive but since we are all different it does enable us to tailor any advice to your particular circumstances.

Welcome to the forum @Chondroid

Glad you have found us! We have literally centuries of lived experience with all sorts of different types of diabetes being managed with all sorts of different approaches and strategies - so fire away with any questions - nothing will be considered too obvious or ‘silly’. 🙂

If you would like a good overview of T2 diabetes, to add to the knowledge you’ve already picked up, you might want to register for an account with the Learning Zone (the orange tab in the main menu) which is packed full of informative bite-sized modules. Additionally, for a more personal take, members here frequently recommend Maggie Davey’s Letter to the Newly Diagnosed which tells of onw woman’s quest to understand her diabetes better, and to live well with it.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on 🙂
