Type 2
Hi everyone,

My name is Dave and I'm 52 year old Type 2. Was diagnosed about 3 years ago and this is first post on forum.

Was doing okay until 6 months ago and then lost it a little, had a HbA1 reading of 10+ and one last month was 7.5.

Daily meds are: Sukkarto SR 2000mg, Atorvastatin 20mg and since last month’s reading Gliclazide 40mg.

Just starting the long journey back to full control, and hoping to have it under control very soon. In last two weeks also noticed an issue with my right eye and after visit to doctors they made referral to eye casualty. Looks like I have some retinopathy going on, have more appointment with hospital in next two weeks so they can run die in blood to see where bleed is and then week later another doctor lead appointment. On Monday had my annual diabetic eye screening and they said in reply to the question, is the retinopathy due to my diabetes - "Could be, but also could be just age!" great help! But it’s given me the kick up the a"s% to get everything back in control.

Since moving onto Gliclazide I've been given test strips, which is good, because otherwise I never had or have any of the normal signs or symptoms of high blood sugar and the testing gives me something tangible to work with.

If anyone else is on Gliclazide, does it make a difference?

I'm waking with a reading around 10 or 11; take the tablet and hour or so later no real difference with or without food. (Other meds are taken after evening meal)

I have been told maybe type 1.5 although that was only on last visit and not sure if it was a passing comment or for real, hope to clarify next visit.

So hello, hope to be around for some time, off now to read all the posts and catch up with ideas etc.

Regards
Dave

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Hi Dave, welcome to the forum.

Best of luck with your journey to regaining control, a diagnosis of T1.5 might throw a little wrinkle in the journey, but not much.... Much can be done with diet & excersise

Welcome from a fellow T2, 54, 3 years in.
