I have been recently diagnosed with Diabetes 1, my world fell apart and I struggle with food, I found out that apples are really bad for me and nothing works,I do have a Sensor and can monitor myself all day long ................ but it still scary I am down from 22mmo to about 11,1 mmo
Please lovely People tell me what do you eat for breakfast?
I have started a YouTube channel on Diabetes, a no-filter no-nonsense info channel about my struggle
From previous threads, it varies wildly between people. I usually have half a tin of baked beans with some tomatoes, herbs (and chilli flakes) and Feta cheese.

It may be easier for people to make suggestions and offer advice if you say what insulins you are taking and are you carb counting. How long have you been diagnosed.?

The specific insulins and doses are important as they all have different profiles of action and it will be important to balance your insulin dose with the carbohydrates you eat or you risk too high levels or too low (hypos)
Who has told you at what time and what amount of insulin to take.

It is early days so they may be telling you to have fairly conservative doses to bring down your levels slowly as that is safer but they should have given you some guidance on how many carbs to have at each meal.

So I guess you’re taking fixed doses at the moment? That means you have to eat fairly fixed amounts of carbohydrate. It’s possible that your diabetes nurse doesn’t want to confuse you with too much information at once, when you’ve got used to injecting and your levels have come down a bit then hopefully they will teach you to carb count. Which means you work out the total amount of carbohydrate in whatever you are about to eat, and then adjust your insulin dose to suit. This gives you much more freedom to eat what you want when you want. Did they give you any sort of diet sheet or any tips?
For the time being for breakfast I’d stick with a small bowl of cereal or eggs on toast or something until you get the hang of it.
Just read your last message - DON’T try to avoid carbs completely, you are on insulin and need some carbohydrate to balance it out.

You may find it useful to look at the information in the Learning Zone on Type 1 diabetes (orange tap at the top).
There is no need to be hungry as you can have some carbs, protein, healthy fats as well as veg and salads.

I'm pleased you found it useful. Fire away with any questions but please do say which insulins you are taking as that will help people to give you appropriate suggestions.

Because it just does not work and the Nurse knows it does not work,I was just wondering what other people eat to figure out what could be good for me,I know everyone is different
I have eggs - boiled, poached, scrambled or dry fried, with grilled mushrooms, tomatoes and the occasional helping of bacon or high meat sausage. I also have the occasional slice of medium cut bread from a small wholemeal loaf, or a 1/4 tin of beans.
