Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
I am a Heavy Goods Vehicle Driver and would like to know the rules regarding hypos.
I am a type one diabetic controlled with insulin.

Can't say for sure but imagine rules will be same for cars but stricter, would have thought info would be on dvla website somewhere.

What seems to be crucial is keeping adequate BG fingerstick records, whether or not you are driving at the time, and even if you are using a sensor like Libre. You need a continuous record of BG fingersticks.

Have you let the DVLA know about your diabetes? They usually send the rules back when they send your restricted licence.

Mmm - but that does not apply when you already have your HGV licence, only when applying for a new one.

HCV licence holders have to have an annual medical to keep the licence anyway, ( with or without D or insulin or whatever) so presumably there are relevant questions on the forms which doctors complete for that purpose every year?

What has made you ask this right now, @Ray Howes ?
