I am having higher bg's when the weather gets really warm. Does anyone else have this? and how do you deal with it? I am going on holiday, to kos, next month. It will be the first time either of us, me and oh, have been abroad. I have had to get three dr's letters to cover all medical items. I have a great d pump team. They have lent me a spare pump, just in case mine plays up, better safe than sorry. I need to know how to control bg's in the heat. Any help would be great.

Well - increase your insulin LOL - TBRs very useful so don't be afraid to try that. I usually find because I take more exercise and yes how reprehensible perhaps drink more alcohol than normal (though not always, just tastes better in the sun) as well as heat sending me low anyway - that also takes a great deal of judgment, reduced bolusing, TBRs and quite a lot of Lucozade etc LOL

Don't stress about it anyway, just firefight when you need to, on a pump it's dead easy to have more or less insulin because you haven't got you basal clouding the issue so you can sneak a TBR when you realise you should have had less bolus. I mean I don't recommend that long term - but hell - holidays aren't the pattern for the rest of your life are they?

Maybe a stupid question, but what's TBR?

Im not on a pump but found the heat on Gozo mid June was just a bit too much for my Humalog. Had to carry it about in my Frio cool bag but that was struggling too. When not outdoors the pen was kept in the fridge also I found I was injecting twice as much just to stay within limits.
Went to Kos mid September 2005 and stayed on Kalymnos (the island to the north of Kos) weather was superb. Your going to have a great time there.
