I have been struggling with being out of breath, just from walking up my garden If I can't park very close to the supermarket, I can't walk all across the carpark and so can't do my shopping. A couple of weeks ago I attended sleep apnoea clinic and I had to sit down 4 times, on low fences in the car park. I was crying my eyes out and gasping for breath. Also really bad pains in the muscles on my arms and legs and feeling very lethargic and low. Actually I feel really poorly. I am having a heart scan on Monday afternoon. I am very worried about this? What could be causing these ailments with my heart being involved I hope someone could give me a few ideas as what is going on.

I'm really sorry to hear this @spiritfree :( I'm afraid I can't offer any insights, but hopefully they will be able to pinpoint the problem from the tests and that it can be easily treated {{{{HUGS}}}} Not long to go until Monday, please let us know how you get on.

It must be very worrying @spiritfree and I understand why you are anxious. Monday will hopefully come round quickly and they will get to the bottom of your symptoms and it is easily treated. Sending you {{hugs}}.

Take it easy Monday will soon be here, have you got a good book you can read or just anything really that will take your mind off it, someone to chat to and someone to get some shopping in for you.

Good luck.

Hi @spiritfree I'm so sorry you are going through this scary time and hope it's soon resolved.
Just a suggestion have you been tested for pernicious anaemia?

Hi spiritfree, I was also considering Sue’s suggestion as breathlessness doesn’t have to be heart related. I’ve been having some issues recently and it could be my haemoglobin levels. Hope all goes well and they find the cause quickly. Best wishes.

Hi Spirit free. I can sympathise with you as I been through a similar experience over the last couple of years. Do you know what sort of heart scan you are going to have? I have to go for an Echocardiogram on Wednesday and this is just an ultrasound scan similar to what women have when they are pregnant and is totally painless, it just means spending about 30 mins lying on your side and having jell spread all over your chest area whilst having the probe run through the jell and then spending 15 mins trying to get the jell off. Hope everything goes OK for you
Best wishes Malcolm

Sounds horrible and scary - so {{Hugs}} - however diagnosis is imminent so I urge you to try not to speculate (but know you will, I would too, it's impossible not to) - because whatever it is, the sooner you and they find out what's causing it the sooner they can get the treatment in place and they cannot possibly do that until they've carried out the tests.

It could indeed be something difficult of course but OTOH if anyone REALLY thought death was imminent - then you'd have had the tests done by now, wouldn't you - cos whoever wherever would have called an ambulance?

Have you been checked for anaemia or underactive thyroid (also called hypothyroid)?
I was severely anaemic after having #1 son, and one of the main symptoms was struggling to catch my breath. I've also recently been diagnosed with and given treatment for an underactive thyroid, and although I didn't particularly notice breathing problems before diagnosis I was really struggling with lethargy, but since I started treatment I've felt like I've got a lot more energy.
Good luck for Monday xx

I'm sorry I don't have any answers but just want to post a message of support ((hugs))

You sound like a finals exam question, spirit free. All the responses so far are reasonable. If you aren't getting chest pain, it's not the blood supply to the heart itself. A heart scan, or an echocardiogram will eliminate heart valve problems, like Mal had. A simple ECG can eliminate heart rhythm problems, and some other conditions. Blood tests will reveal anaemia and other blood disorders.

But the main thing I would say is do not exert yourself. Don't go over the limit of what your body tells you. Do not do any shopping this weekend. If that means sitting around all day, then so be it till you get an answer. Don't be surprised if they want you to be admitted to hospital.

Rest up till Monday, try not to worry. Easier to say than do I realise.

Thank you for your reply. I think I am having the same as you had. I will let you know.

There seems to be better communication in the heart department than other areas we may know. I hope it is for you.

I'm sorry to hear you're going through a traumatic time Spiritfree ~ I don't have any answers for you ~ wish i did ~ but I truly hope that the result of your scan and any other tests you'll be having on Monday will be positive and not anything to cause you great concern. If you can, try not to do anything strenuous over the weekend but rest as much as you can. In the meantime we'll be .............
