Plenty of recipes in the food/recipes forum here (drop down menu on left top) or there are ideas in this link for low carb meals with real foods. https://lowcarbfreshwell.co.uk/
All other meats, fish, eggs, cheese, nuts with vegetables and salad can provide lots of options for tasty meals

Hi @mars we also have a thread in the Food/ Recipes section with photographic meal ideas - some are from type 2 members and mostly lower carb, some are type 1 or 3c members so may have more carbs than preferred if you are trying to eat lower carb (not sure how you're managing your diabetes)

Hi and welcome.

Is there a reason why you don't eat red meat? Meat is carbohydrate free so should not impact your diabetes.
Like many others here, I just adjust meals that I used to eat to reduce the amount of carbs and increase the lower carb vegetables. So I maybe only have half a small Yorkshire Pudding and one piece of potato (usually a roastie) but plenty of veg and meat. If I have an omelette I have it with a large salad and a big dollop of coleslaw rather than the 2 slices of wholemeal bread and tomato ketchup I used to have with an omelette. If I have a curry, I might have it on a bed of vegetables like steamed shredded cabbage or courgettes or cauliflower rice rather than with normal rice and a naan as I used to do. If I have steak, I sometimes make chips from celeriac instead of cgips made from potatoes or I just have it with a large salad and coleslaw (usually cheese coleslaw because everything is better with cheese 😉) and plenty of mushrooms done in the steak juices. If I have cooked ham or sausages I often have that with cauliflower cheese, but instead of a cheese sauce made from flour and milk which both contain carbs, I spread the bar boiled cauli with cream cheese and then sprinkle plenty of grated cheese over the top and bake until browned. Cauli also makes a great substitute for mashed potato and in a lot of respects it is quicker and easier and tastier. No peeling, mashes easier and with a good dollop of cream cheese and a teaspoon of mustard (I like wholegrain) it delicious and can be used to top a shepherd's/cottage pie (with a generous sprinkle of grated cheese of course 🙄) or goes well with high meat content sausages for bangers and mash.

Anyway, that is what I do and it works well for me.

Welcome to the forum @mars

There are lots of different dietary approaches that forum members use to try to help them manage their diabetes. Some focus on aiming for weight loss with a low calorie approach, while others concentrate more on blood glucose management with a low carb menu.

There are a number of possible meal plans here:

And some general guidance to keeping food enjoyable here:

Good luck, and let us know how you get on 🙂
