Well I had the 6 week assessment at the gym. Weight loss was about 1kg which felt like lacking even though I've been told muscle weighs more than fat. I'd had a bit of a bad day at work and ended up leaving work in a rush which I hope is the reason for my ear popping blood pressure 😡
The positive reading was that my heart rate was down (thank goodness something was!) Unfortunately the doctor never mentions my heart rate and scowls at my blood pressure and weight so those are the things I need to see an improvement in. I've put off getting my bloods done until after the 12 weeks as I'm hoping there will be an improvement there.
The person doing the assessment was very encouraging as she has seen my attendance and knows I have been working plenty. She tried to convince me that if I keep at it the muscle gain will stop and the weight will start to drop. I promise to stick at it and see how the remaining 6 weeks go of the referral.

Ladyengineer, I would be very encouraged by the improvement in your heart rate, and I believe the rest will come if you stick at it. A lower heart rate is a sign of improved fitness, as it means your heart is not having to work as hard to do the stuff it did before - conversely, if it is on the high side then it's having to work much harder, so this is a very good marker for things to come 🙂

Perhaps your BP is being influenced by 'white coat symdrome', where it appears artificially high due to the fact it is being taken officially? Have you got a home BP monitor? I got an Omron M2 Basic Blood Pressure Monitor so that I could take my own readings at home, cheap as chips and clinically approved to be the same as your surgery's. I showed these to my GP and she was happy that my BP was actually OK despite appearances in the surgery! 🙂

Sounds like you are working hard. Sometimes we don't see immediate improves but it is worth sticking to things to see the benefits. I wish you success with it and that you get the results you want.
