Hi everyone. The last post I could find relating to this was from 2007 so I thought I'd try for some updated advice.

I am moving to New Zealand for 6-12 months. I'm on a pump. Does anyone know how the system works over there or what we need to do specifically for our diabetes?

There is a reciprocal healthcare agreement but as far as I understand it, it's for urgent/emergency care only. Not sure if I can register with a GP/specialist team and if I need health insurance before I move.

Any advice very welcome, especially from people who have done it themselves. Thanks!

On the Diabetes.co.uk site there is a a member who is based in New Zealand, they are also a moderator too! It might be worth posting there too!
I don't recall any posters here from New Zealand.

I’m not sure if Diabetes UK have any resources and information for people planning to work or study abroad, but it might be worth calling the Helpline 0345 123 2399 (Mon-Fri 9-6) to see if they have any pointers?
