NHS chiefs have come under fire for giving patients “contradictory” and “fragmented” information about the threatened closure of two GP surgeries
West End Extra reports that Westminster’s health watchdog slammed NHS England for its botched public consultation on Soho Square General Practice and Milne House in Paddington. Thousands of patients were not informed about the important changes and, in Soho, letters went out saying the wrong surgery was closing down.

In a report, charity Healthwatch said they were “disappointed by the NHS England approach to patient engagement and communication on these GP closures”. It said:

- In Soho, the first letter telling patients of the possible closure was sent to patients of a neighbouring practice, causing alarm among people who would not be affected.

- At Milne House, only 30 per cent of patients are thought to have received the first letter. For those who did receive the letter, several pages were missing.
