Does fat lead to inactivity?
"Lack of exercise is not to blame for the childhood obesity crisis" The Daily Telegraph says. The newspaper explains that researchers have found children become less physically active because of obesity and are not necessarily obese because they are inactive.

Walkers put best foot forward for diabetes support
AROUND 100 people put their best foot forward on Sunday to take part in Diabetes UK Cymru's annual sponsored "Walk the Extra Mile" in Llandudno. Starting at 11am on the promenade the walkers braved strong winds and rain squalls for the two-mile walk with some taking on the challenge of a four-mile walk around the Great Orme. Dai Williams quoted.

An active social life can help you fight cancer, researchers say
Tests on diseased mice found their tumours shrank dramatically when they were brought into contact with many more other animals than normal - with tumours even disappearing completely in a few cases. It means human patients should be encouraged to meet up with friends and family, or stay in as close contact as possible with them by email or phone, to maximise their chances of recovery.

Doctors will rule in biggest NHS revolution for 60 years: Billions given to GPs as trusts face axe
Doctors will be given sole responsibility for patient care under plans for the biggest shake-up of the NHS in 60 years. Around ?80bn will be handed straight to family GPs, while the 150 strategic health authorities and primary care trusts who currently channel it will be drastically cut back.

Teenagers 'risk premature babies'

In 2008, more than 40,000 under-18s conceived Pregnant teenagers are more likely to give birth prematurely and have a small baby than women in their 20s, says an Irish research team. Fourteen to 17-year-olds were also more likely to give birth early if they were having a second child, a study of more than 50,000 women in England found.
