A FREE networking event is being held for parents of children with diabetes across West Wales.

It is being staged by leading health charity Diabetes UK Cymru in the Halliwell Centre at Trinity College, Carmarthen, on Saturday, November 20, between 10am and 3pm.

Gwent diabetes patients on the up

THE numbers of people in Gwent with diabetes rose by close to 2,000 during 2009/10. And four of its five local authority areas are in the top seven places in Wales in terms of the percentage of patients on their GPs' diabetes registers. Dai Williams, National Director, Diabetes UK Cymru, quoted.

DEATH rates in Britain have fallen to their lowest level thanks to the wonders of new heart drugs, dramatic figures revealed yesterday. Last year, there were 491,348 deaths in England and Wales, a fall of 3.5 per cent in a year.
