THE Diabetes Centre cannot cope with the increasing number of diabetics in the Isle of Man, health chiefs admit.At present two thirds of patients are attending the diabetes centre at the Noble’s Hospital complex in Braddan.

Charities see 297% rise in sales of e-cards due to snow

A group of UK charities have seen a 297 per cent rise in the sale of e-cards since heavy snow started falling.

Last week, before the snow hit, sales of cards sent electronically from www.charitygreetings.com were slightly down from the same period in 2009.

Test for early Alzheimer's 'seems possible'

UK experts say they may have found a way to check for Alzheimer's years before symptoms appear. A lumbar puncture test combined with a brain scan can identify patients with early tell-tale signs of dementia, they believe. Ultimately, doctors could use this to select patients to try out drugs that may slow or halt the disease.
