I escaped the saline serial killer
Shaken hospital patient Sam Edge yesterday told of his terror at being targeted by a ward's suspected serial killer - and how only his own wits saved him. Sam, 23, who fears his saline drip was spiked, almost fell into a coma three times while being treated for his diabetes. It was only thanks to his familiarity with his condition that he realised on each occasion his blood sugar levels were plummeting - a potentially lethal hazard that diabetics call a "hypo".
