Big Lottery Fund gives ?14.6 million to 49 projects across England
The Big Lottery Fund has announced grants of more than ?14.6 million to 49 projects across England from its Reaching Communities programme. Diabetes UK will today receive ?413,722 to continue its 'The Diabetes UK Healthy Lifestyle Roadshow' throughout England. The two-year project will visit 70 of the most at-risk areas of England using specially adapted lorries that convert into fully accessible venues for presentations and one to one meetings.

New screening for diabetes

NEARLY a third of people with diabetes in mid Essex may not know they have the condition. Diabetes UK said there are 19,770 people in Chelmsford and the surrounding area with diabetes ? but 5,700 are thought to be undiagnosed.

If you child is reluctant to eat their greens the results of a new dietary study may convince them. It found youngsters who don't like fruit and vegetables are 13 times more likely to develop constipation. The research, which appears in the latest issue of the Journal of Clinical Nursing, also found drinking less than two glasses of water a day also significantly increases the risk.
