The NHS in Wales must adopt a new approach to healthcare in order to stop wasting resources on the 20% of services that either do not work or even cause harm, Health Minister Mark Drakeford has said.
Speaking ahead of his speech to the Welsh NHS Confederation?s conference today, Prof Drakeford said he wanted to introduce a system of ?prudent healthcare? to the health service in Wales.
He said up to a fifth of what the NHS currently does either does no good or indeed causes harm to patients, and the way patients are treated for certain conditions needed to be revisited.
