I was diagnosed type 2 in January with a level of 53 and was just told to lose weight I have had my hab1c test today and it has gone down to 44, really happy with that although I have no idea whether I just have to carry on what I am doing or not as I have had no help or advice from my doctor so will just carry on, all my help and advice has been from these forums so thank you to everyone who had helped me this past 6 month

Well done @WendyB61 !! You must be so pleased. I'm assuming if I go back to previous behaviours my blood sugars will do the same so I'm continuing a healthier lifestyle. You need to do what's best for you as we're all different. Good luck!

Well done to you too how have you managed to lose the weight? I lost a stone within a month by cutting out sugar In my drinks but I can’t seem to lose anymore and have about 3 Stone to lose

You have certainly done well to get your HbA1C down to prediabetes range but there is still a bit more work to do for you to be more comfortably in the non diabetic zone below 42mmol/mol. You only mention cutting sugar in your drinks but you probably need to do a bit more by reducing portions of the high carbohydrate foods like potatoes, cereals, rice and pasta and cutting out cakes and biscuits, reserving them for the occasional treat and this should then help with weight loss. If you can then increasing your exercise will also help.
If you give an idea of typical meals then people can make some suggestions where you could make some carb savings.

Congratulations on your great progress. As @Leadinglights says, if you cut your other carbs a bit, that will help your HbA1c drop a bit further and will also almost certainly help with your weight loss. If you can incorporate a bit more exercise like a brisk daily walk, if you aren't already, that will also help with both issues. Good luck and keep going with the good work. Well done!

Great work @WendyB61 - well done on reducing your A1c and losing a stone. Brilliant!

My type 2 diagnosis scared the **** out of me. Found this forum, bought the Carbs & calories book and a bg meter. Cut out added sugar and most processed foods. Went for walks every day come rain or shine. Still losing weight but much slower now. Cut down heavily on carbs such as rice, pasta, bread & potatoes. Can eat them now but don't need/want in same quantities. I'm not going to let this beat me 🙂

That's a great result Wendy, well done!

It seems as though you've got a winning formula so I'd continue with what you've been doing. Hopefully your numbers will continue to be positive as part of this new lifestyle change.
