When l check my BG l see there is a HbA1c conversion table at the top of the page that makes my daily readings well over the ideal recommended is it time to panic any views please.

No need to panic Charlie - the HbA1c is measuring something different to your fingerprick tests, so you can't usefully compare the two. Your fingerprick test is like a 'snapshot' of what your blood sugar level is at the moment you do the test. The result you get will be dependent on a lot of things, such as when and what you last ate before doing the test. The HbA1c is more like an average of your levels over the previous 8-12 weeks, so it gives more of a general idea and will reflect not only the times when you have just eaten, but also the times when they are much lower - for example, when you are asleep.

When you ext see your doctor, do ask them what your last HbA1c was so that you then have something for future comparisons 🙂
