That is normal at below 42mmol/mol but it may be because they are thinking that in achieving that level you must be having lots of hypos. Did you not ask why she thought that.

Did she ask anything about your Time in Range? That would confirm if that great HbA1c is from great management or from too many hypos.

I have had a couple of low readings which i managed before they turned into full blown hypos, so she did say something about hypos, so that is probably why. Just wondered if anyone else had been advised to up their HbA1c x

@kellie01 my HbA1c came back at 42 and I was told it was too low by the nurse at my surgery, but I believe that’s because my Libre data makes it look like I have too many hypos (it thinks I spend the first 5-7 nights of each sensor at 3.5, which I don’t). I explained that I check all of these irritating false lows with a finger prick and my doctor was happy enough with that. He did say though that when he had his training they were told that 42 or below was too low for a type 1, presumably because of the possibility of it being “low” due to excessive hypos. Bearing in mind this is my GP speaking and not a specialist, and this training will have been pre-CGMs. Is your CGM data fairly accurate? My Libre thinks I’ve had 37 lows in 90 days. I’ve had 2 !

There is no pleasing some folks.
I too have been 'told off' for a too low a1c.
Basicalling, if you time in range is good, and you are keeping to your targets (less than 4% under 4.0) then i don't see the issue...unless you are having sever hypos.
I also think they may be worried that you don't get burn out too.
End of the day, if you are happy with the effort you put on, its sustainable, and you aren't letting low a1c via hypos, then all's good.

Well done, by the way!

It’s also to maintain hypo awareness @kellie01 If you spend time dipping a little low, gradually people can lose their hypo awareness. Even though we have the Libre and other CGMs, hypos can still happen if you’re falling fast and maintaining sharp hypo awareness is really important as the years pass (and, of course, if you have a driving licence and want to keep it).

My Libre is notoriously lower than my fp BG, around the 5.5 region or below so dips into the RED line region (supposedly below 3.9) which is a sodding nuisance since you know, wouldn't it be lovely to have a constant actual fp BG of 5.5! so reports a higher percentage of hypos than I've ever actually had in my life.
