Oh bless you. What a fright you must have had. Did they say you had a DKA?

One of those tests was a HbA1c - can you tell us what your number was - that will help people advise you.

At the moment - eat what you normally do but keep a strict food diary - pay attention the amount of carbs in what you are eating - not just sugars. You'll start to see areas to work on.

Has anyone mentioned spot glucose testing at home and have you been put on any meds?
Hi perhaps someone could help me too my Hba1c has gone from 76 to 47 now bk up to 65.. I’ve beeneating low carb but high fat..I have high by too..surely this isn’t right for me I’m totally confused TIA

Although some of these are unlikely to cause such a rise in HbA1C, the following can increase Blood Glucose:
Infection
Injury
Stress
Lack Of Sleep
Medication including Statins and Steroids.

Failing that, perhaps some extra carbs have been sneaking past you.
Dietary Fat doesn't affect Blood Glucose at all! Protein can, but you would need to be eating an awful lot of it.

Hi Lesleym,

You've posted some really good questions and they warrant a proper response so please do consider starting your own thread so we can offer you some tailored support. 🙂

Welcome to the forum @Lesleym

I’ve split your post into it’s own thread so that responses don’t get lost in the other conversation 🙂

Sorry to hear your HbA1c has risen again after having come down previously.

How long have you been living wih diabetes? And do you take any medication?

Some people find that their diet needs adjusting from time to time, but it can be very individual.

Do you check your own BG readings around food with a meter? Some people find this helpful to tailor their menu to the types of carbs their body copes best with.

Can you give an idea of the sorts of meals you have on an average day?

It depends upon the type of Low Fat cheese. Some of them have almost zero carbs (less than -0.5 per 100gms).
But why eat low fat cheese? - I used to eat it until I found that Low Fat reduced my HDL Cholesterol more than it did my LDL or Triglycerides. for Blood Pressure?
High Blood Pressure is mainly associated with excess weight.
A Low Carb (higher Traditional Proteins Fats) way of eating usually reduces both weight and Blood Glucose unless you eat way too many calories.
