Hi all,

I just needed to celebrate a bit!

I was diagnosed August 1 with HbA1C of 87…my second test to confirm diabetes was 71.

I had a check up this week and it’s now 50 ☺️

I’ve been taking 3 metformin daily instead of 4, as 4 really upset my stomach. So my DN has said I can stay on 3.

I obviously want to continue this path, and hopefully move to remission in the next year or two if it’s possible.

As a relatively newly diagnosed person, I spent a lot of August crying and I felt very overwhelmed. But, the support and information on these forums have been invaluable - I have learnt so much. With hindsight, I probably wouldn’t have made the changes that I’ve needed to without such a shock, which is such a shame that I wasn’t in tune with and caring for my body, but we move.

I feel it’s fair to mention, I am overweight and haven’t lost even a kilo according to my scales, but I do work out often, so my body shape is changing - I just need to trust my body will catch up when it’s ready - as I have been worrying about not losing weight when it’s one of the ways in which I was told that I could help my diabetes.

But for now, celebration with an early morning trip to the gym!

@curlyk you are doing incredibly well. I think a diabetes diagnoses is a wake up call for many of us, well it was for me.
You just carry on doing whatever it is your doing, because it seems to be working for you.

Well done

Alan 😉

Many congratulations on an excellent HbA1c reduction and on making a healthy change to your lifestyle. The forum can only point you in one pf several right directions but it is down to you to do the hard graft to change and of course maintain that change so WELL DONE and keep at it! You are doing great and should be incredibly proud of yourself.

Well done on the drop in your HbA1c. Losing weight should help you make even more progress but for the time being stick with your regime and hopefully your next test will show a further improvement.

Congratulations and really well done. Just take it one step at a time you maybe lose weight and not realiseit, the key bit is keep it steady and don't go too fast and that way you can see the progress which will last.
