Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi
right so i got diagnosed type 2 late dec last year, got the blood test done number came back 130. now at the time i had no idea what this meant, but i believe its crazy high. got my test again 3 months later its now 46, so i assume that is good, although i didnt think it would have dropped that much in 3 months. i have been super strict with my diet, cut ALOT of stuff out, but do these numbers make sense ?

fantastic effort

Brilliant result. That puts you in pre-diabetic range.🙂

thanks everyone 🙂 i was aiming to get myself under the 100 hopefully into the 80's for my 2nd blood test so to get down to 46 was a surprise, just got to keep it going now.

You get diagnosed as diabetic when 48 or above. I think non diabetics are 42 and below. And 46 is a fantastic figure from your starting point.

Brilliant , I'm chuffed for you.

Yep, I agree, an excellent reduction there.

In my pedantic mode, the unit of measure for HbA1c is now usually in mmol/mol (so your reading was 46mmol/mol). Not so long ago and sometimes it still is, HbA1c was specified as a percentage (i.e. The percentage of red blood cells with glucose attached against those which don't). Hence the 6.4% that Steff referred to earlier.

For some reason, medical types love to omit mentioning units of measure and this often leads to confusion.

Anyway, well done again! :D

Well done CHAZ your hard efforts paid off, proud of you x

Well done and yes your readings make sense to me. I too was high when diagnosed and as you will see from my signature at my first 3 month review I too had dropped to pre diabetic range. Can I ask how you did it. Did you test, cut carbs, increase exercise etc? I test daily, restrict carbs but I need to increase my exercise more.

Hi
my exercise level was not too bad to start with, i have a sled dog team so they keep me really active, so i assumed the problem was more with my diet. i didn't think my diet was really shocking but when you start REALLY looking at what your eating it was clear it could be better. so i dropped fizzy juice, crisps chocolate 100%, and reduced other things bread etc. i bought a tester from amazon and started experimenting with food to see the effects things had on me. i have a handy app on my phone which helped me keep track of what i ate each day. that was about it to be honest, its just keeping it going now
