No personal experience of taking Gliclazide, but my older brother takes it & he has put on a little weight with it. So I'd keep a close eye on your weight.
It's a drug that stimulates your pancreas to produce more insulin. As such it can result in hypos, so it's important to carry sugar with you at all times and to test your levels before driving.
I was on it for about 3 years before my pancreas finally gave up the ghost, didn't have any problems taking it and never had a hypo, though I can see why you might so Northerner's advise is good advise (as always 🙂)
I have just started it, and it is doing nothing for me. However, the nurse did seem pretty surprised about that, and i have heard it is a good drug that works well...just doesn't for me!!
I havent' had any side effects tho, so I can't complain about that side of it.
