Just checked my results online...HbA1c up slightly...was 46mmols...now 49mmols...not surprised...nasty infection during the last three weeks...and a high dose of antibiotics right before blood test haven't helped...should be grateful it wasn't worse in those circumstances...total cholesterol is slightly down...while still in the high risk category...Cholesterol/HDL ratio is 'GOOD'...HDL/LDL ratio is 'GOOD'...TRIGS/HDL is 'IDEAL'...according to the charts...so some good news...slightly disappointed with HbA1c result...but...not defeated.

It’s not bad in the scheme of things Bubbsie but in honesty it surprises me as your levels (particularly morning ones) seem well out of diabetic range most of the time. However the infection won’t have helped as you say.
I’m at the tail end of a cold so expecting that to impact negatively on mine too.

I’m just back from having my bloods done ready for my review and inoculations next Monday. I know my cholesterol and trigs are well out of range which are probably a greater risk but I’m not keen on statins.

Certainly don’t be defeated because overall this is an excellent result. Think what you started with and the improvement is stunning! 🙂

Well done. You’ve come a long way since you joined our select club.

Don't be too harsh on yourself, Bubbs. Infections are annoying and always happen at the wrong time. My HbA1c is due on Friday & whatever the result, well that's it. We all try our best & that's all we can do.

I have another hba1c next week, the last on the diabetes prevention programme. I am worried about it as I have been having normal results on my testing (some fasting bloods 4.8, 4.9, 5.2, etc and random bloods about 6 something) but it still worries me that the hba1c might come out too high.

Hi bubbsie, don't be hard on yourself, you have done so well.. Infections are a so and so.

I am due my bloods and thyroid bloods again at end of month, but going to doc on Thursday as not myself at all. BG levels over last 3 days much improved due to my compliance. Bet they do bloods early, and was hoping to get a wee run of better results to bring down hb thingy. Never mind

I think you'll be fine @Maz2 🙂

Had to dash off for work...so that was a welcome distraction...just frustrated with it Amigo...my morning levels were fine...but during that ten days my day time ones were up in the 6s 7s & 8s...knew it would go up...antibiotics also pushed up my INR levels...was on my second six week appointment at the anti-coagulation clinic...but had to go back early...so back to two week appointments now...nothing I can do...at least I know why they were both elevated...will make sure I have another one at the end of January...thanks...good luck with yours.

Spot on Carol...although I used stronger language when I checked my results online...at least I know why they were up...nothing we can do about it if we're ill...hope you've had enough 'good days' to keep within range...good luck...thanks

There's never a good time for an infection Mark...but that one couldn't have come at a worse time...it also screwed up my INR levels...so back to the anti-coagulation clinic earlier than expected...could have been far worse...good luck for Friday...thanks.

Since the lurgy last week I've been consistently high. Being 'off' really messes with your bg. Also, antibiotics wipe you out!

The Hb doesn’t seem to reflect your overall levels though Bubbsie and I can understand your frustration about that. I did research possible links between the use of warfarin and elevated Hba1c levels but couldn’t find definitive, established links even though there’s a plethora of information on dual use and interactions.

I only have an annual Hba1c test and really base my actual control on daily readings. To me it’s the true reflection of what’s happening. It’s just a frustrating, daily grind we all understand :(

That's the spirit, not defeated, you are ready for the next hurdle knowing you have great self discipline and you do loads of exercise. Just a little blip because of the badly timed infection. It is so frustrating though! 🙄
You have so much support from us all here.:D Great news re the cholesterol! 🙂

Thanks Jo...although I was expecting it...still disappointing...back to anti-coagulation clinic this morning...since the antibiotics played havoc with my INR levels too...hoping for a good score there...get back to six weekly appointments...blood pressure still normal...cholesterol better...so positives there...have a good day.
