recently did my blood test nurse said it shot up to 101 mmol/mol anyone else had theres high ? but now im on insulin and tables my sugars have come down a lot

Morning @tigers12 the meds and insulin will have an impact on your levels.

Have you tried any other strategies like changing your diet and increasing your levels of exercise.
It is well worth you finding out how many carbs you are eating and also your glucose levels, which you will now be measuring as you are on insulin, and looking at those results to help you make changes. As you have seen from other posts there are plenty of ideas from others on here to help you.

hi yes im changing my diet and doing very well so that's a start I eat lots of fruit and veg to

What fruits are you eating and how much, though fruit is healthy some are high in fructose ( fruit sugar) and quite a few people’s BG levels spike.

Welcome to the forum @tigers12

How long have you been living with diabetes?

We have several members who had an HbA1c that started in 3 figures, but who have managed to get it into a ’normal’ range with a combination of moderate or low-carb eating and meds.

Hope you can find the right balance between your meds and your diet to gradually reduce your BG levels.

It’s usually best to make changes to your menu and activity levels gradually when you are having a bit of a refocus on diabetes management - partly because any changes you make need to be sustainable long term, but also because very rapid and sudden changes to blood glucose levels are harder on the fine blood vessels, and changing things more gently will give your body time to adapt.

Many members here find a lower carb way of eating really helps them manage their blood glucose levels, but you will need to be slightly cautious and to balance your food with the meds (especially the insulin) that you are taking. Moderate carb reductions can make insulin therapy much easier and more reliable though 🙂

Let us know how you are getting on 🙂
