She was hinting at that but agreed to slowly reduce as I’m worried that my BGs would creep up again, should I be ?Wow! That's excellent Martin! 😱 🙂 I'm surprised that she hasn't taken you off the metformin altogether, looking at your list of results over the past year.

Does anyone here know, how long the reduced Metformin will take before I can asses results, as I feel probably will take a while for reduction in dosage to provide a reduction in my blood..
Out of interest once you stopped taking the Metformin, when do you check your blood and how often.Same here. Once I stopped my levels began to creep up, then they started coming back down again and are now lower than when I was taking it. DN said to start taking it again if I went above 8.0 but didn't get anywhere near that.

Was that 8 on a finger prick test or on HbA1c?Same here. Once I stopped my levels began to creep up, then they started coming back down again and are now lower than when I was taking it. DN said to start taking it again if I went above 8.0 but didn't get anywhere near that.

I have been taken off Metformin even though my level is higher than yours. I was unsure about this as was on maximum dose. Have noticed bg’s are higher now but have another HbA1c in 2 months. Yours are really good results so I too am surprised you’re still on it but maybe reducing slowly is the way to go!!😉 Hi all
Just received my results of recent HbA1c blood test, very pleased to say it’s at 32 mmol/mol and Diabetic Nurse is reducing my Metformin to 2 x 500mg daily.
Quite pleased at the result...!
Thanks, I have had a few 8s and in fact 9s since coming off Metformin which is a bit disappointingI've always checked twice a day, fasting test when I get up and post-prandial 2 hours after main meal.
Finger prick.
I upped walking, no hard exercise..in fact if you hard exercise the liver will dump sugars into blood..Hi Martin that's really good, was that just from Metformin and a low carb diet, did you have to exercise?
Hi Anitram! So you’re happier to run a higher BG sugar just to be off the tablets ..?Well done, Martin. Makes all the hard work worthwhile doesn't it? As the others have said, surprised you still have to take Metformin. I was higher than you at diagnosis and am still higher than you but have been off Metformin for 15 weeks with my DN's approval.

This is the bigger questions, I’m taking tablets to maintain my low blood sugars , some would sacrifice those low blood sugars just not to take tablets..Hi Anitram! So you’re happier to run a higher BG sugar just to be off the tablets ..?
It is obviously working well for you Martin so keep at it xMy latest Hba1c was 41. My current fasting average is 5.7 and post-prandial 5.4, so well into the green zone for diabetes management. My DN doesn't think I need to be on any medication.
All I got from taking Metformin was severe stomach cramps.

That’s good, I’m thinking maybe I would have been better going down to 2 a day rather than stopping them completely. I’m pretty sure she will reassess when I next see her. It’s a bit confusing when getting everything from in the 5s to in the 9s. It’s certainly an up and down journey but good to see you are doing so well.In the days after coming off I went from getting mostly 5s and 6s to getting mostly 7s, but after a week I was back to 5s and 6s and since then mostly 5s with a few 4s.
