Had another hba1c recently. Had been pre-diabetic at 42 and 43 then managed to get to normal but only down to 40. Stayed down for about 5 years but last year went back to 42. Practice Manager rang me yesterday to invite me to the Patient Participation Group so thought I would ask about it. She said it was fine - back to 40.
Sounds trivial compared to what others have but I did feel slightly disappointed. I worked very hard on my diet and hoped it would be lower this time. Think GP must be right about increased insulin resistance as I am getting older. I think I must be eating something that I think is fine but isn't. Testing does not seem to be picking anything up so will continue with testing and see if I can find out.
Had a nasty shock yesterday though. I checked my bloods before going out - 5.2. Whilst out, as it was hubby's birthday last month, the garden centre we go were offering free drink and cake. I didn't have to do it but, as I don't cheat too often, I had a plain scone - it was large I have to admit. Checked two hours later and my reading was 10.2. Eeek. Two hours later it had gone to 3.9 so at least it had dealt with it but won't be doing that again. . OH was horrified when I told him.
